A DEAF CHILD'S PRAYER
Do the angels sing in Heaven, Lord?
Will I hear music there?
Or must I stand in a corner
While others join in prayer?
While I wonder what they're saying Lord,
As oft I do down here?
Must I sit in lonely stillness
While the bells ring loud and clear?
Can I read your lips in Heaven,
Lord Will I be brushed aside,
And stick my hands in pockets
Because of wounded pride?
Will all the saints there praise thee,
While I in silence wait?
Will some one up in Heaven
Help me through the gate?

Then God, who loves the humble,
Whispered in the poor deaf ear
My child, has no one told you,
There is no silence here.
Hold out your hands, my little one,
For Heaven all to see.
We've heard them pray so many times,
Each prayer reached up to Me.
See, all the angels waiting.
The gates are open wide.
Your crown of life awaits you,
And I shall be your guide.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES

Have fun learning how to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people in a 16 hour course.  Train to become an interpreter or enrich your ministry to the deaf!

SCHEDULE:

Sundays:  
Beginner ASL Class from 1:45-3:45 p.m.
Basic ASL and Religious Sign Language textbooks will be used.

This time slot is especially for Champions Church Members and their families (Adults, youth and children) but all are welcome.  If you are unable to stay for the 2 hour class---arrangements can be made to have 1 hour session.

Mondays: 
Children's ASL Classes from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for children and adults with special needs children.  Parent Sign Series Videos, Childrens Games, DVD's, Text and Story books used.

Mondays:
Beginner ASL Classes from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Using textbook "A Basic Course In American Sign Language" by Tom Humphries, Carol Padden, Terrence J. O'Rourke, Frank A. Paul (Illustrator)

Tuesdays: 
Advanced ASL from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Using textbook: "Signing Naturally Level II" by Cheri Smith, Ken Mikos, Ella M. Lentz

This textbook is a workbook that you have to write in whatever you understand on the videos.  It's a lot of fun and the course has three levels (I,II,III).  You have to voice interpret the video stories, assignments and deaf conversations.

Tuesdays: 
Religious ASL Classes from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Using textbook:  Religious Signing:  A Comprehensive Guide For All Faiths by Elaine Costello

COST:  

$70 for Eight Week Session (16 Hours) - If you pay for classes by check, please make your checks payable to Champions Church Deaf Ministry.

Classes are open to the public.

(If you are a Champions Church Member please contact americansignlanguageclasses@yahoo.com or our church office for more details as to your special pricing)   Attendance is encouraged and the more classes you attend the more you learn.

Deaf and special needs children are FREE with paid adult attending.  If a family has MORE than ONE deaf or handicapped child, then all of the special needs children in the family go free with one paid adult.

You can sign up at anytime and walk-in's are welcomed.

To enter the American Sign Language classroom (Conference Room) go to the glass doors at the front of the church.   Enter the Foyer and take the hallway to your left and the ASL Class will be in the first door on your left (Conference Room).  If you enter the left side of the church building....when you enter the double doors go to the hallway and take a right --follow the hallway down to the second door on your right (Conference Room)
